Why Choose In-Home Pet Euthanasia?

If you are here, you are likely facing some very difficult decisions for your beloved pet.  We know how hard this time can be for families, and strive to offer caring and compassionate end of life care.  Our goal for all patients is to make this procedure as smooth and peaceful as possible.

Pet euthanasia at home allows you, your family, and your pet to remain in the comfort of your own home reducing the stress and anxiety a trip to the animal hospital can bring.  We will discuss with you the best ways for us to help your pet feel comfortable with us prior to administering any medications.

Not sure if it’s time? Dr. Conner can review and help you assess and understand your pet’s quality of life before making a decision.

What to Expect

Once you and your pet are comfortable, Dr. Conner will review the procedure with you taking time to answer any questions you might have.   Next, a small injection will be given to help your pet relax and ease any pain.  Dr. Conner will review your pet's age, underlying condition(s), and possibly even a history of response (or lack of response) to certain medications in the past to determine the best combination for your pet.  There is no “one size fits all” approach to this procedure, so we do our best to take the time to anticipate the needs of the patient and family.

Once your pet is fully relaxed, Dr. Conner will administer the final solution through a small IV catheter that will allow your pet to peacefully pass away. Your pet will be in a deep, comfortable sleepy state prior to this final step and will not feel any pain.

Aftercare

We offer a variety of customizable aftercare services to help you honor your beloved pet. We work with a well-respected reputable crematorium that handles each pet as if they were their own. Aftercare options include:

  • Private cremation  - your pet will be cremated privately and the remains will be returned to you in the memorial item of your choosing with a clay paw print.
  • Communal/group cremation - your pet will be cremated with others and the ashes are spread at a serene private garden.
  • Self-aftercare - we will leave the body with you allowing you to make your own arrangements.

If you are interested in other arrangements please let us know and we will be happy to work with you to honor your pet’s life.
